ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC)- Etowah County Sheriff's deputies have arrested an Albertville man for stealing a car.
Christopher Charles Dildy, 22, has been charged with first degree theft of property, which is a felony. He allegedly stole a 1999 Toyota Corolla from a residence in Boaz.
Investigators believe that Dildy stole the car Sunday, Jan. 20 but the owner didn't notice that it was gone until Monday, Jan. 21 when they notified authorities. Coincidentally, while deputies were speaking with the car owner, a call came in that a car matching the description of the stolen Toyota was on a wooded property in the Egypt community.
Upon investigation, the victim was able to positively id their car to Deputy Victor Payne. The car was heavily damaged and couldn't be driven. With the agreement of the property owner, deputies left the car to be towed later.
The same property owner told deputies that they'd seen another car nearby and passed along its license number. Deputies located this second vehicle and stopped it on Egypt Road.
Dildy, along with two others, were inside this car along with items confirmed to be stolen from the Toyota Corolla. Courtney Brea Dunn, 20 of Rainbow City and Kayla Renee Schoenlein, 21 of Gadsden, were also arrested on outstanding warrants from Rainbow City and Etowah County, respectively.
Dildy remains at the Etowah County Detention Center on a $5,000 property bond. Dunn is being held on a $1,000 bond and Schoenlein is being held with no bond for a probation violation.
