KOBE Japanese Restaurant & Steakhouse opens in Gadsden

Fans of Japanese-style teppankaki and sushi who live in the Gadsden area now have a more local choice when it comes to finding an entertaining and tasty Japanese meal. The first KOBE Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar in Etowah County has opened in the Gadsden Mall, bringing a selection of traditional Japanese stir-fried meat, vegetables and rice to the area.

The word “teppanyaki” in Japanese is composed of the word for “iron plate” and “stir-fried food,” according to the KOBE website. This type of cuisine is often prepared in front of customers by expert chefs who cook the food on giant table-top grills, showing off their knife-tossing and rapid chopping skills at the same time.

The choices for sushi rolls at KOBE range from spicy, fresh salmon in the Russian Roulette Roll to the Crunch Shrimp Roll, which combines shrimp, crab and cucumber. To see a full list of their sushi menu, click here.

The new KOBE restaurant takes up 4,440 sq. feet of space and is located near the Books-A-Million in the Gadsden Mall, which is at 1001 Rainbow Drive in Gadsden.

Two other KOBE restaurants are located in Alabama, one in Birmingham and one in Tuscaloosa. To find out more about the restaurant chain, visit their website at www.ekobe.com.
